CANNABIS EXTRACTION

The fastest growing sector of the Cannabis Industry, extraction, has created a new process in which consumable-grade ethanol and specialty denaturants have replaced carbon dioxide as the primary titrating ingredient.

Extraction refers to the conversion of target molecules in cannabis raw material into a usable form. This process removes the oil found in the trichomes from the cannabis plant both targeting and collecting the most potent compounds from the plants, including THC, CBD, and terpenes, among others.

EUS has had its finger on the pulse of this budding industry for over a decade. Members of our ownership have been involved in the design and engineering of extraction equipment for some of the nation’s largest cannabis companies. This rare experience offers us a competitive advantage in this emerging industry.

ETHANOL EXTRACTED

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

The term “Ethanol” describes pure naphtha, isopropyl, or grain alcohol. Ethanol extraction is produced in one of three ways; soaking, rinsing or running ethanol through cured plant matter, followed by separating the plant matter from the alcohol and either evaporating or purifying the liquid that remains. This results in a concentrated mixture of the psychoactive and medicinal compounds that are produced by the cannabis flower.
