Product Overview:

Grain Neutral Spirits (GNS), rectified alcohol, or ethyl alcohol refers to the highest purity in which ethanol can be distilled.  To qualify as GNS, the solution must be distilled through a multi-column still and collected at a minimum ABV of 95% (190 proof) concentration.  The term “neutral” refers to the fact that the final distillate must be flavorless, odorless, and colorless in character.  National vodka brands have started to popularize labeling their bottles with a statement that pertains to the number of distillations the product went through to insinuate that the more times you distill the higher the quality.  This is information is quite misleading and true only up to a certain point of redistillations in the process.   While using a conventional still, the purity of a rectified spirit has a practical limit of 97.2% ABV or 95.6% by mass as a mixture of ethanol and water becomes a minimum-boiling azeotrope at this concentration.  This means that after a certain number of redistillations ethanol and water cannot be concentrated (purified) in its vapor or liquid state any further.

GNS can be made from the fermentation of grains, grapes, sugar, potatoes, and many other agricultural materials.  Once diluted with water, neutral spirits are primarily used as the dominant ethanol ingredient in spirits such as Vodka and Gin.  However, other applications of this product include but are not limited to blended whiskey, brandy, tequila, rum, liqueurs/cordials, and bitters.

Product Overview:

Gin is a distilled spirit whose dominant flavor comes from juniper berries.  After the juniper, the spirit is typically flavored with roots, flowers, spices, seeds, and fruit peels to give it more characteristic. There are several different methods to infuse these flavors into the final product, none of which are necessarily superior to the other.  They are vapor infusion, maceration, steeping and compounding.  Vapor infusion is when the ethanol vapor running through the still during distillation comes into direct contact with the botanicals in a designated chamber.  Maceration is when the ingredients in the recipe are added to the stills base cooking kettle and are agitated during distillation.  Steeping is where you take a grain neutral spirit (GNS) base distillate and submerge the gin materials over a set period until the producer gets their desired flavor profile.  Compounding is when you infuse each of the recipe’s ingredients separately with grain neutral spirit (GNS), vacuum distill each infusion out to a clear distillate, and blend those flavored distillates back together to make the final product.  EUS’s gins are made utilizing the compounding method to ensure high-volume product consistency and quality to our customers.

Product Overview:

Distillate flavorings are produced by infusing a source ingredient with 192 proof grain neutral spirit (GNS) over an extended period and then extracting those flavors through a low temperature vacuum distillation.  The resulting product is a clear, highly concentrated liquid that has a more robust flavor than an infusion.

The benefits of using a distillate flavoring are as follows:
